Dog fouling is once again becoming a serious problem in the village. The Community Association has recieved numerous complaints of dog mess left on pavements around the village, and in particular in the play park. Whilst so many villagers give of their time to make and keep the village a clean and tidy place it is disappointing that a few irresponsible dog owners who refuse to pick up their dog's mess can do so much to undermine this. It is particularly disconcerting to see frequent fouling in the play park near the play equipment which is used regularly by children of all ages. Bags and bins are readily available in the village, so there is really no excuse for not clearing up.
The Association has invited the Community Dog Warden to attend a future meeting to discuss the issue, but the quickest answer is for anyone witnessing this behaviour to report the dog / owner directly (see details below) or indirectly through any member of the Community Association.
Dog owners have a legal duty to clean up every time their dog fouls in a public place. It is an offence if you do not clean up after your dog and may result in a Fixed Penalty Notice of £80.
