Community Woodland

Take a short walk through the fields or along the banks of the River Eden to our Community Woodland. Originally planted in the 1980s, it is now a mature stand of silver birch trees.

It is particularly attractive in spring when a variety of small song birds are to be found nesting in and around the woodland and a variety of woodland flowers are in full flower. You might even be lucky enough to spot our resident buzzard!

The original planting was complemented in 2022 by the planting of 450 flowering and fruiting trees and shrubs. This will do much to improve the biodiversity of the area, providing food and shelter for a much wider range of birds and small animals.

It will also improve the year round attractiveness of the area for walkers and ramblers.
